The 10th Annual New Music Festival at Cal State Fullerton March 2-6th, 2011 features Strings in the 21st Century. The festival will feature JACK Quartet, eighth blackbird, Missy Mazzoli (composer), Cornelius Dufallo (violinist/composer/electronics) and Paola Prestini (composer/electronics/video), plus the CSUF New Music Ensemble with CSUF faculty performers and guest artists and the CSUF Symphony Orchestra. Selected Papers, Lecture/Demos and Lecture/Performances will be featured on the Composer-Performer Symposium on Saturday, March 5th, 2011.
The 10th Annual New Music Festival announces the Annual Call for Proposals for: Papers, Lecture/Demonstrations and Lecture/Performances and Playback of Electronic/Electro-acoustic Works, Electro-acoustic works with Video. Length of proposed paper, lecture/demonstrations or lecture/performance work: 20 minutes. Proposals focusing on themes of: Strings in the 21st Century, the Composer-Performer, Electro-acoustic Music, Women in Music, Improvisation in New Music, Contemporary Music for Strings are particularly welcome. For all proposals include: title of work, name of composer, length of work, program notes, short bio, contact information: email, mailing address, website, link to upload recording (or send by regular mail). Please submit all proposal information by email to: firstname.lastname@example.org. CD or DVD can also be sent by regular mail to: Dr. Pamela Madsen, Music Department, Cal State Fullerton, P.O. Box 6850, Fullerton, CA 92834-6850.
- For paper proposals: Submit proposed abstract (limit 250 words), bio.
- For Lecture/Demonstrations: Submit proposed abstract (limit 250 words), bio(s), recording of proposed demonstration and technical requirements.
- For Lecture/Performance: Submit proposed abstract (limit 250 words) title of work, name/bio of composer, name/bio of performer, length of work, program notes, and technical requirements (for electro-acoustic works).
- For playback of two-channel electro-acoustic/electronic works or electro-acoustic works with video: Submit CD or DVD recording of proposed work (limited to 12 minutes), program note and bio.
